If you are between 18 and 30 and think you would like to talk to others
about Jesus Christ, there is no better way to do it than by joining the
Tell-A-Tourist team...

Tell-A-Tourist (TAT) is about short-term Christian service, it gives invaluable experience in evangelism & encourages spiritual growth, whilst contributing to the task of reaching visitors to this Country.
The campaign is organised by a group of evangelical churches in Chester, UK.
The cost is £90 including food and accommodation for two weeks, team members are expected to be between 18 - 30 Years of age.
Only those who have filled in an application form, have the full backing of their church and attended the TAT training sessions at the beginning of the campaign will be allowed to work on the team.

The team will live in two churches, with accommodation facilities, the team will operate from the City centre base. Camp beds are provided but sleeping bags & pillows will be needed.
All catering is taken care of but members may have to prepare their own breakfast.
If you have a musical instrument, bring it!

Chester is an attractive, historic City visited every year by thousands of tourists from all over the world.
Famous for its Roman walls and two-tiered shopping rows, the team works in the pedestrianised
shopping areas, in the Cathedral and on the ancient walls which encircle the City.

Team Leader, Dave Bennett, says...

"On Chester Tell-A-Tourist, you can have a go at witnessing to people from different nationalities and cultures. You can even learn how to preach in the open air using a sketchboard.

It is one of the best opportunities in the North for open air evangelism. If you can give two weeks to a team mission, you won't find anything more fulfilling than Tell-a-Tourist in Chester."

You need no experience, only a willingness to learn and you'll be surprised at what God will do!

WHAT IS TELL A TOURIST?
It is a team of people working together on the streets and in the Cathedral, to give tourists some literature in their own language, ( usually a selection of scripture verses and a gospel ),
and to talk to them about the Christian faith.
There are about 50 languages available.

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mark 16:15

DO PEOPLE GET EMBARRASSED WHEN YOU TALK TO THEM?
Hardly any. In fact, most are surprised and pleased to receive something in their own language and are glad to stop for a chat.
WHY CHESTER?
Because it is a beautiful historic city which attracts many thousands
of tourist from all over the world.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Matt 28:19

WHEN DOES IT HAPPEN?
Usually the first two weeks of July, Friday to Friday.
WHO IS ON THE TEAM?
Most of the people are in their late teens or early twenties and are from many different denominations, backgrounds and parts of the country. Dave Bennett, an Evangelist with The
Pocket Testament League, leads the team.

WHERE DO YOU STAY?
On camp beds in church rooms. Apart from breakfast, all meals are provided at the city centre church base.
HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO?
Dave Bennett gives you really good training sessions at the beginning and then you go out in pairs or as a group. You are always within reach of help or different language literature and you are never left stranded.
